The offers proposed by the network of 4 CRNH located in Auvergne, Ile de France, Ouest and Rhône-Alpes concern, on the one hand, the contribution of scientific knowledge in nutrition impacting human health, and on the other hand, technology transfer actions for public or private partners.
For this, each of the 4 human nutrition research centers provides a specialized offer in human nutrition and complementary to those of the other centers.
▶️ CRNH Auvergne:
> The CRNH Auvergne offers a scientific expertise offer around preventive human nutrition in healthy humans, and more specifically in the elderly.
> It also offers access to common exploration tools in nutrition through access to the equipment of its Nutrition Exploration Unit (UEN) for the exploration of protein-energy metabolism, micronutrients and non-energy nutrients through:
- The use of amino acids marked by stable isotopes
- Insulin clamp techniques
- Tissue biopsies (muscle, adipose tissue)
- Measures of energy expenditure by indirect calorimetry (by canopy and in calorimetric chambers)
- Analyses of body composition (impedance, DEXA)
- Analyses of osteodensitometry and food surveys
▶️ CRNH Ile de France:
> The CRNH Ile de France offers a scientific expertise offer around obesity by ensuring the phenotyping and genotyping of eating behaviors and nutritional and energy status.
> Its service offer concerns the following outpatient analyzes:
- Analysis of eating behavior and consumption
- Study of the determinants of behavior and nutritional status
- Study of the relationships between behavior and health
- Study of the ability of protein sources to meet the nutritional needs of healthy or fragile humans
- Study of the pathophysiology of the relationships between environmental changes, behaviors and human health
- Evaluation of prevention strategies, communication and nutritional education
▶️ CRNH Ouest:
> The CRNH Ouest offers a scientific expertise offer around metabolic diseases and associated cardiovascular risks.
> Its service offer concerns the analyzes of its Mass Spectrometry platform (PFSM) attached to the CORSAIRE platform of Biogenouest for the exploration, in vivo and in vitro, targeted (lipids and apolipoproteins, amino acids and proteins, organic acids, sphingolipids allowing to approach insulin resistance, methylamines and short chain fatty acids allowing to approach the intestinal microbiota, xenobiotics …) or untargeted (lipidomic, metabolomic) of the components of human and animal lipoproteins.
> The service offer also concerns the quantification of targeted analyzes, as well as kinetic analyzes from tracers enriched in stable isotopes (fluxomic proteins and metabolites), and structural and elementary analyzes (measurement of exact masses).
▶️ CRNH Rhône-Alpes:
> The CRNH Rhône-Alpes offers a scientific expertise offer around human nutrition and more particularly:
- Nutritional adaptations: metabolic stress and environment
- Mechanisms of development of nutritional diseases
- Muscle mass, physical inactivity and sedentary lifestyle
- Modulation of the nutritional quality of food
- Cardioprotection and cardio metabolic risk
> Its service offer concerns those provided by, on the one hand, its ➰Clinical Exploration Center➰, and on the other hand, by its ➰Mass Spectrometry Analysis Center➰:
➰ The clinical Exploration Center ➰
The services offered by the clinical center include the design and writing of research protocols, submission to ethics committees, design of CRFs, registration of subjects in national volunteer records, recruitment of volunteers, inclusion visits, management of schedules and medical procedures, analysis of results, preparation of study reports and valorization of results (publications, communications, patents …).
The main explorations carried out are:
- Body composition (impedance, DEXA, MRI, marked water).
- Energy metabolism (indirect calorimetry, doubly labeled water).
- Insulin sensitivity (euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamp, adipose and muscle tissue biopsies).
- Bioavailability and fate of foods / substrates via the infusion / ingestion of stable isotopic tracers.
- Nutritional challenges (test meals, postprandial metabolism, …).
- Carbohydrate, lipid, lipoprotein metabolism.
- Hormonal profiles. Inflammatory parameters and oxidative stress.
- Microbiota: endotoxemia, metabolites (SCFA, expired gases, …).
- Biological samples taken: blood, plasma, serum, urine, stool, adipose tissue, muscle tissue, saliva, expired gases.
➰ The Mass Spectrometry Analysis Center ➰
Its service offer focuses on the measurements of isotopic enrichments on samples taken during clinical protocols in humans, on animal or cellular models using stable isotopes
The service offer also concerns the quantification of various metabolites (lipids, carbohydrates, amino acids) as well as certain metabolites produced by the intestinal microbiota and this in various biological matrices (plasma, urine, stool, saliva and expired gases).
The analysis center is part of the translational research platform METANUTRIBIOTA (Claude Bernard Lyon1 University, Hospices Civils de Lyon, CARMEN Laboratory and CRNH Rhône-Alpes). It is dedicated to the analysis of volatolomics and metabolomics to study the host-microbiota interaction in the context of nutrition studies and various pathologies including chronic metabolic diseases (obesity, diabetes, chronic renal failure …).
The analytical themes of the analysis center are:
- Bioavailability of food, fate of substrates and metabolic fluxes
- Lipids, carbohydrates, amino acids and intestinal microbiota metabolites
- Body composition and total energy expenditure doubly labeled water
- Insulin sensitivity (clamps)
The analytes of interest, the sample matrices as well as the techniques used in each case are to be consulted directly on the dedicated page of the platform:
