The dairy technology research platform

The dairy technology research platform (PFL)

➡️ The PFL platform is attached to the UMR STLO (Science and Technology of Milk and Egg) of the INRAE Center of Brittany-Normandy, which is part of the Agro Institute Rennes-Angers on Rennes. As such, the LAIT platform is therefore under the supervision of INRAE, through the UMR STLO, the TRANSFORM and MICA departments.

➡️ This platform specializes in the transformation technologies of milk and its derivatives, and benefits from:

  • The scientific expertise of its researchers who conduct their research on both real systems (cheeses, …) and controlled model systems (purified proteins, …)
  • Its analytical support (biochemical and microbiological characterization of dairy products, mass spectrometry, confocal microscopy, …)

➡️ In connection with its STLO unit, the dairy technology research platform develops semi-industrial methodologies capable of improving the knowledge of the constituents of milks, as well as the drying mechanisms of the transformed materials. The PFL platform is recognized as an INRAE Collective Scientific Infrastructure (ISC).

➡️ For this, specific techniques are implemented on the LAIT platform, and are notably accessible via the I.R. CALIS (see Collaborations / Services / Service offers).
